Job Overview
This role will be responsible for managing the statutory financial reporting, tax compliance, and financial controls across the business. The role will also handle VAT submissions (UK & Belgium), cash flow forecasting, and tax return tracking in collaboration with external providers.
The role
* Prepare monthly statutory management accounts in accordance with FRS102 and the month-end checklist.
* Conduct monthly balance sheet reconciliations, including work in progress, inventory, fixed assets, accruals, and prepayments.
* Prepare the year-end trial balance and oversee statutory accounts preparation with external third parties.
* Plan and coordinate the annual external audit, acting as the main point of contact for auditors.
* Oversee the accounts payable function, including reviewing weekly payments.
* General ledger controllership and variance analysis for P&L and Balance sheet.
* Manage quarterly UK VAT submissions and oversee import/export VAT compliance.
* Assist in tracking tax returns across the group, ensuring all filing deadlines are met in collaboration with external providers.
* Develop and maintain IFRS financial accounting/reporting policies group-wide, including supporting policy, process, and system rollouts.
* Oversee quarterly Belgian VAT submissions, working with an external preparation team.
* Conduct ad-hoc Budget vs Actuals analysis for all departments.
* Prepare and report on the weekly cash flow forecast.
The candidate
* Recently qualified ACA (or equivalent) accountant, ideally with Big 4 audit experience in retail.
* ACCA / ACA (or equivalent) with up to 2 years PQE in retail fashion, e-commerce, wholesale, or similar industries.
* Strong drive to improve financial processes and establish robust controls.
* Expert knowledge of UK GAAP accounting framework.
* Advanced Excel skills and excellent problem-solving abilities.
* Ability to analyse problems logically and present work clearly and concisely.
* A collaborative mindset with the ability to build strong relationships with senior commercial, financial, and legal stakeholders.
