About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated SEND Class Teacher to join our Newton Abbot site, working with younger pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. Many of our pupils have experienced trauma or adverse childhood experiences, and they need a teacher who can offer both high-quality learning and unwavering emotional support.
This is a role where connection, creativity and consistency matter just as much as curriculum knowledge. You will be part of a nurturing, skilled and collaborative team committed to helping every child feel safe, valued and ready to learn.
What You’ll Do
Planning and delivering adaptive, engaging lessons that meet a wide range of learning and emotional needs
Building strong, trusting relationships that support pupils’ engagement, confidence and progress
Taking a relational and therapeutic approach, recognising that behaviour is communication
Providing high-quality pastoral support alongside academic teaching
Working collaboratively with colleagues to ensure consistent, joined-up provision
Maintaining high expectations for learning, personal development and emotional growth
What We’re Looking For
We are looking for a teacher who is not only skilled, but deeply committed to making a difference.
QTS/ PGCE/ degree is required
Is primary-trained with strong, reflective classroom practice
Has experience of — or a strong interest in — SEMH/SEND education
Is resilient, calm under pressure and solution-focused
Understands the importance of relationships, attachment and emotional safety
Values teamwork and contributes positively to a collaborative, supportive staff culture
Driving licence is required
