Job title: Consultant in Orthopaedic Surgery specializing in Lower Limb Surgery with interest in Trauma with Hip and Knee arthroplasty. Applications are invited for a Full Time Consultant in Orthopaedics, for lower limb surgery, based at Northwick Park Hospital and required to work across Central Middlesex and Ealing Hospitals. The role includes elective and trauma operating, fracture clinics and elective clinics. The applicant should have experience in lower limb surgery and is expected to start as soon as practicable. The Consultants are supported by Registrars, Trust Grade doctors, and junior doctors at FY1/FY2/CT1 level. It is essential that the applicant has passed the fellowship in Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery or equivalent.

Responsibilities
* Balanced activities between trauma and elective commitments based on service demands.
* Operate on both elective and trauma lists.
* Regular ward rounds and outpatient clinics (elective and trauma).
* Present monthly mortality & morbidity statistics and participate in departmental teaching meetings.
* Supervision and training of middle grade staff.
* Participate in management duties within the department and the Trust.

Job description and responsibilities
Please read the attached Job Description. This is a Consultant post to support the current Orthopaedic service in general trauma and lower limb elective orthopaedics with a specialty interest in hip and knee surgery. It would be appropriate for a fellowship-trained hip surgeon. The post holder will be expected to work across the Trust on Northwick Park, Central Middlesex and Ealing Hospital sites.

Qualifications
* Essential: Appropriate higher orthopaedic surgical qualification (e.g. FRCS (Tr & Orth) or equivalent)
* Desirable: Higher academic degree (MD, PhD or equivalent)
Knowledge and Expertise / Subspecialty
* Essential: Operational experience in Trauma & Orthopaedics; broad-based training in Trauma & Orthopaedics and its subspecialties; appropriate surgical expertise in Orthopaedic surgery; Fellowship training in Trauma and Revision Hip & Knee Arthroplasty; Fellowship in Orthopaedics lower limb
* Desirable: NHS experience within the last 3 years; Fellowship training in adult soft tissue knee ligament reconstruction
Registration
* Essential: Entry on the GMC Specialist Register in Trauma & Orthopaedics, or within six months of obtaining a CCT or CESR (CP) at the time of interview
