Role Overview
We are seeking motivated and technically capable Graduate Mechanical Engineers to support mechanical engineering activities across the Sellafield PPP programme.
This is a site-based role within an operational nuclear licensed site, offering hands-on exposure to mechanical design implementation, construction, and installation in a highly regulated and safety-critical environment. You will work as part of an integrated PPP delivery team, supporting the safe and efficient delivery of mechanical systems, while following a structured graduate development pathway toward professional accreditation and Chartered status.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the delivery of mechanical engineering activities across PPP work packages
* Assist with the implementation of mechanical designs, specifications, and work packs on site
* Support installation, inspection, testing, and commissioning activities for mechanical systems
* Prepare and review technical documentation, including drawings, method statements, and reports under supervision
* Liaise with multidisciplinary teams, subcontractors, and client representatives to ensure safe and efficient delivery
* Participate in site walkdowns, inspections, and progress reviews
* Ensure mechanical works comply with Sellafield Ltd requirements, nuclear site licence conditions, and company procedures
* Promote a strong safety culture and adherence to health, safety, and environmental standards
* Support continuous improvement and defect resolution activities
* Actively engage in graduate training, mentoring, and professional development activities
Key Requirements
* Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
* Strong interest in mechanical engineering within nuclear or highly regulated environments
* Good technical understanding, problem-solving, and analytical skills
* Effective communication skills and ability to work with multidisciplinary site teams
* Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a site-based delivery environment
* Competent in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); exposure to mechanical design or project tools is desirable but not essential
* Previous industrial placement, site experience, or mechanical construction exposure is advantageous but not essential

* Applicants must be Sole British Nationals
* Applicants must be eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance
