The Opportunity As a Hazards Engineer, you’ll strengthen safe construction and engineering activities across HPC. Your work will support cross‑discipline design decisions and guide solutions that keep the project progressing while contributing to our journey towards An Electric Britain. You’ll join us on a salary starting of circa £35,000 per annum. You will be on site at Hinkley Point C for most of the week, with some flexibility for remote working according to the workload, giving you a balance of practical experience and focused analytical time. You’ll collaborate with technical specialists across the Joint Design Office, gaining exposure to varied hazard topics and learning from experts with guidance where needed. Who You Are We’re looking for a Hazards Engineer who enjoys solving complex problems and working with others to deliver safe outcomes. To be shortlisted, you need to offer… Degree (or equivalent) in engineering or scientific field applicable to working in nuclear Demonstrable evidence of problem solving and stakeholder management Strong communication skills in English with ability to present complex information clearly Experience of working on a construction site or operational plant environments Exposure to systematic evaluation, risk assessment, and analysis Worked alongside engineers who develop, author, or review safety case documentation, including hazard sections Working knowledge of relevant hazard, HSE, safety, and regulatory frameworks, including ALARP principles (a standard used in safety decision making) Awareness of external and internal hazard analysis, including natural phenomena, fire, flooding, dropped loads, and conventional HSE Understanding of working within delegated authority to agree hazard strategies and requirements hazards What You’ll Be Doing Supporting hazard‑related assessments and safety case activities across the HPC site Helping resolve multidisciplinary technical issues through analysis and collaboration Contributing to hazard strategies and documentation within delegated authority Working closely with JDO engineers and site teams to address field queries Supporting improvements to technical processes, tools, and hazard management approaches Pay, Benefits and Culture Alongside a starting salary of circa £35,000 per annum, potential for an annual bonus, and a market‑leading pension scheme, your package will include customisable benefits such as electric vehicle leasing, discounted gym membership, life assurance, tech vouchers, experience days, and more.
