Programme Support Officer
Location: Surrey County Council, Woking, United Kingdom
Contract: Fixed‑term contract / secondment until 31 March 2027 (36 hour working week). Salary: £36,873 per annum.
Overview: We are hiring a Programme Support Officer to support the delivery of high‑priority transformation programmes within Children’s Social Care and the CFLL Directorate. The role focuses on the Efficiencies programme and related projects, driving savings and improving delivery.
Responsibilities
* Provide essential support to programme and project level governance, maintaining accurate and timely management information.
* Oversee forward plans, actions, board packs, chase reports and highlight reporting.
* Coordinate programme‑level governance meetings, logistics, minute‑taking and action logs.
* Manage the highlight reporting cycle for Project, Programme Boards and Portfolio Office and produce programme‑level highlight reports and updates.
* Support programme team members with meeting and workshop arrangements, including rooms, equipment, attendance lists, minute‑taking and other assistance.
* Liaise, communicate and build relationships across the organisation and with suppliers to respond to ad‑hoc queries and support the team.
* Continuously review and recommend improvements to the programme, supporting processes and tools and their implementation to ensure best practices are shared across the team.
Key Outputs
* Effective organisation, preparation and maintenance of management information for the overall programme (programme plan, resource management plan, engagement plans, action logs).
* Coordinating and maintaining programme‑level governance meetings, managing logistics, minute‑taking and action logs.
* Managing highlight reporting cycle for Project, Programme Boards and Portfolio Office and coordinating production of highlight reports, updates and management information.
* Providing support to programme team members with meetings, workshops, room bookings, equipment, attendance lists, minute‑taking and other assistance.
* Building relationships across the organisation and with suppliers to respond to ad‑hoc queries and support representation.
* Reviewing and recommending improvements to programme processes and tools for best practices.
Qualifications & Skills
Applicants should have:
* A qualification at A‑level standard or a professional business qualification at NVQ level 4, or demonstrated experience within a project environment.
* Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively and influence others.
* Strong organisational skills, managing multiple deadlines and ensuring best practice adherence.
* Understanding of responsibilities and tasks throughout the project lifecycle.
* Attention to detail and the ability to manage, analyse and present information and data.
