Detailed job description and main responsibilities The service provides specialist interdisciplinary assessment and intensive rehabilitation for survivors of stroke. The post holder will work as part of multidisciplinary team delivering a post-acute client centred rehabilitation programme. The post holder will: • take responsibility for providing, monitoring & developing the Physiotherapy provision within stroke rehabilitation: helping patients to engage as independently as possible in activities which enhance their health & wellbeing. • manage a caseload of patients with complex health & social care needs, using evidence based, client-centred principles to assess, plan, implement & evaluate interventions. • provide leadership for more junior staff, through supervision and appraisal. • support the physiotherapy lead in the planning, development and evaluation of clinical services within the specialist area, taking responsibility for defined projects. • work as a key member of the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) to promote the continuing rehabilitation of patients in the service. To advise/share specialist skills of assessment and treatment with team members. • promote and maintain the ethos of Physiotherapy in all clinical and professional activities. Responsible for Supervisory responsibility for Junior Physiotherapists, Physiotherapy students on placement, Therapy Assistant Practitioners and Assistants. Registered with the Health and Care Professions Council Evidence of recent Continuing Professional Development. Post graduate training related to neurological physiotherapy e.g., Introduction to The Bobath Concept Module 1 Desirable criteria Practice Placement Educator training Experience Essential criteria Significant post registration rehabilitation experience or training and CPD in a neuro/stroke rehabilitation setting Evidence of multi disciplinary/ inter-agency working. Ability to plan and delegate daily workload Ability to demonstrate and share knowledge and application of up to date evidence based clinical trends and practices Desirable criteria Experience of clinical supervision of junior staff/students.
