Salary: £15,000 - 18,000 per year Requirements:
* We are looking for candidates who have strong hands-on experience with Azure Data Lake Gen2, Azure Data Factory, and Azure Active Directory. You should possess advanced skills in data modelling (including conceptual, logical, and physical) and SQL for complex transformations. A proven ability to design and build high-performance ETL/ELT pipelines is essential, along with an understanding of data governance, security, and access control frameworks. Familiarity with batch and real-time data integration, and experience with ODBC connectors or REST APIs are also important. Knowledge of Databricks and/or Microsoft Fabric will be considered a bonus. Additionally, we require at least 3 years of experience in a Data Architect or senior data engineering role, with a proven record of designing and delivering cloud-based data platforms, ideally within the Azure ecosystem. A background working with complex ERP or transactional systems and experience supporting or leading data transformation initiatives within a business setting is also critical.
Responsibilities:
* As our Data Architect, you will be responsible for designing and implementing an enterprise data lake on Azure Data Lake Gen2, utilizing a Bronze/Silver/Gold architecture. You will build and maintain scalable ETL/ELT pipelines in Azure Data Factory to integrate data from core systems such as AS400, Tagetik, CRM, Esker, and Slimstock. Developing the overall data model, data dictionaries, and lineage documentation will also be part of your role. You will need to deliver a stable “batch-first” integration strategy with AS400 during its .NET migration, with a strategic roadmap toward API integration. Furthermore, you will implement the technical foundation for data governance, which includes quality checks, metadata management, and master data validation. You will embed business rules and validation logic directly within data pipelines, define and manage data security and access controls (Azure and Power BI row-level security), and lead the hands-on build, testing, and deployment of the Azure data platform. Monitoring platform performance and optimizing pipelines for cost, scalability, and speed will be essential components of your responsibilities, along with defining and documenting technical standards and best practices, and overseeing the migration from legacy tools (Domo, Vecta) to the new Power BI ecosystem.
