The Role

We are a renowned laboratory specializing in umpire and party analysis, and we're looking for a motivated person to join our team in Prescot.
In this role, you'll be at the forefront of metal and mineral testing, analyzing ores, precious metals, ferro-alloys, and solid fuels. It's a physically active role for someone eager to get involved and make an impact.
About the Position
* Shift: 37.5 hours per week (Shifts: 6am–2pm / 1.30pm–9pm alternating, Mon–Fri)
Contract: Full-time, permanent position
The day to day
* Mixing, melting, hammering – preparing and analyzing samples using classical fire assay techniques.
* Operating electric fusion furnaces and pouring molten slag.
* Using a hammer and anvil to separate lead buttons.
* Handling chemicals safely and disposing of waste responsibly.
* Maintaining precision in work, adhering to ISO 9001 and 17025 standards.
* Learning fire assay fusion techniques and operating lab equipment.
The Essentials
* A practical, confident person who enjoys manual tasks.
* Fire assay experience is a bonus, but full training will be provided.
* Excellent communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
* Comfortable standing all day and capable of manual labor.
* Attention to detail and accuracy.
* IT skills to manage data and meet deadlines.
