This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and enthusiastic Technical Instructor to join our Clinical Skills team. This role is ideal for a newly qualified paramedic or nurse looking to transition into an educational setting. The successful candidate will deliver clinical skills and simulation-based training sessions, maintain simulation equipment, and support learners in developing their clinical skills.
Main duties of the job
The role holder will provide efficient technician support to internal and external stakeholders. Working with academic staff and skills technicians, the role involves planning, preparing, delivering, and evaluating clinical and professional skills sessions and simulation activities across undergraduate and postgraduate health and social care courses. Responsibilities include demonstrating equipment and ensuring its maintenance. The role also involves coordinating skills instruction and scheduling teaching activities.
We also support healthcare courses in Dudley with technical instruction.

Job responsibilities
Main Duties:
Teaching and learning
1. Collaborate with academic colleagues to plan, deliver, and evaluate clinical and professional skills sessions and simulation activities, utilizing own expertise.
2. Design and develop teaching materials for various modules and levels.
3. Coordinate activities, resources, and assessments as a module tutor.
4. Provide technical guidance to students and staff in using clinical skills and simulation equipment.
5. Devise and deliver workshops or simulation scenarios under academic supervision.
6. Manage the daily operation of specified skills and simulation rooms.
7. Assist with technical work related to student projects, ensuring safety.
8. Supervise health and safety in simulation and teaching spaces.
9. Coordinate and schedule teaching sessions, liaising with timetabling teams.
10. Prepare facilities for teaching and ensure proper cleanup afterward.
11. Contribute to induction and ongoing training of staff.
Service Development and Improvement
1. Develop curriculum-enhancing activities, including industry visits and placements.
2. Participate in strategic planning for recruitment, marketing, quality assurance, and retention.
3. Recommend improvements for student and staff experience.
4. Supervise technical staff activities.
5. Assist in developing new simulation scenarios, including AR, VR, and mixed reality.
6. Support external income initiatives like consultancy and short courses.
Health and Safety Management
1. Develop and implement local management practices and policies.
2. Ensure compliance with health and safety policies, including risk assessments.
3. Undertake roles such as fire warden or first aider as needed.
4. Support staff wellbeing and training needs, coaching and role modeling.
Procurement and Maintenance
1. Advise on procurement for equipment, ensuring value for money.
2. Create requisitions and manage supplier relations.
3. Promote diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
4. Maintain professional development and safety standards.
5. Support environmentally sustainable practices.
