At a glance
* Flexible Working: This role offers hybrid working, primarily from home (UK) and our London or Bracknell Head Offices, with occasional visits to other locations as needed. Most engineers visit the office once or twice a month, but more frequent visits may be required based on business needs. Our offices are open five days a week for those who prefer more regular office work.
* Expected Salary: £59,500 - £92,400 (depending on experience)
* Contract type: Permanent
What will you be doing?
You will work as a software engineer specializing in Android development within a cross-functional Agile team. Collaborate with other skilled Android and iOS engineers, BAs, Quality Engineers, Designers, and UX specialists on customer-facing projects.
As a Staff Engineer, you will oversee development approaches and provide technical assurance on complex IT projects. Support shaping new projects, mentor less experienced engineers, and communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders. Continuous learning and skill development are important to us, and we will support your growth.
Internally, this role is known as Product Engineer (L6).
Essential skills:
* Extensive experience in Native Mobile Development in Android (Kotlin and Java)
* Accessibility best practices
* Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery
* Experience in TDD and pair programming
* Agile development methods such as Scrum or Kanban
* REST API development and/or consumption
* Deep understanding of MVVM and MVP architectures
* Leadership experience in teams or technical decision-making
Desirable skills:
* Tools like Postman, Charles/Proxyman, Bitrise/Gitlab CI
* Experience with Swift/iOS, GraphQL, Microservice architectures, Docker, Kubernetes, cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), UX principles, web technologies (HTML, CSS), JavaScript libraries (React, Redux, Webpack), server-side languages (Java/Kotlin)
