Lead the work that keeps our trains moving
We're looking for an experienced and motivated Exam Lead to join our Selhurst Depot on nights. This is a key role where you'll combine hands‑on engineering with team leadership, ensuring maintenance and fault‑finding activities are delivered safely, efficiently and to the highest standards
What You'll Do
* Lead and coordinate teams carrying out routine exams, maintenance and repairs
* Act as the key link between the team and Production Office, ensuring clear communication
* Carry out fault finding and hands‑on engineering work
* Coach and mentor team members to support development and performance
* Ensure all work is completed in line with maintenance plans and safety standards
* Update and maintain accurate records within company systems
* Drive continuous improvement, identifying ways to improve quality and efficiency
* Support wider depot activities where trained (e.g. DP, forklift)
What We're Looking For
* Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering principles
* At least 2.5 years' experience in a rolling stock or similar engineering environment
* Proven ability to lead, motivate and support teams
* Strong problem‑solving skills with a safety‑first mindset
* Positive, professional attitude and strong working relationships
* Coaching or mentoring experience (or willingness to work towards qualification)
* Able to meet medical and safety‑critical competency standards
* Willing to learn and develop new skills relevant to the role
* Ability to work night shifts in a fast‑paced depot environment
