Lead Product Manager Secondment Grade 6 - £54,495- £64,811 Consultation grade - subject to formal evaluation under the Pay Equity Review Working 36.5 hours per week About the Role Duration: Up to 6 January 2027 Directorate: Finance Division: Digital and Technology Services / Product We are inviting applications an acting up / secondment opportunity to the role of Lead Product Manager, with specific responsibility for leading and developing the Microsoft Digital Workplace function at Birmingham City Council. This role provides a focused opportunity to shape how we use Microsoft technologies to support colleagues to work confidently, securely and effectively. It is a key leadership role within Digital and Technology Services, contributing directly to our Product Mission for 2026 and our ambition to deliver positive outcomes for citizens and staff. Alongside leading complex and high‑profile products, the postholder will take end‑to‑end ownership of the Microsoft Digital Workplace, including Microsoft 365, collaboration and communication tools, low‑code platforms, and emerging AI capabilities. You will lead the development of a coherent vision, strategy and roadmap for the digital workplace, balancing innovation with strong governance, security and value for money. You will work closely with services, platforms, security, and architecture colleagues to ensure we use our platforms well and maximise the return on our Microsoft investment. This role has a strong capability‑building focus. You will work with the Head of Function - Products to mature a Microsoft Centre of Excellence approach, support enablement and adoption across the organisation, and embed product ways of working that are user‑centred, outcome‑focused and sustainable. What You’ll Be Doing Leading the Microsoft Digital Workplace product vision, priorities and roadmap. Providing leadership to multidisciplinary teams and partners delivering Microsoft‑based products and services. Embedding appropriate governance, standards and assurance for digital workplace and AI‑enabled solutions. Working with services to identify high‑value opportunities and translate needs into clear, prioritised outcomes. Supporting digital skills, communities of practice and confidence in using Microsoft tools across the Council. Acting as a senior product leader and role model for our values and ways of working.
