A well-established engineering and manufacturing company based in High Wycombe is looking to recruit a Test Technician to join its quality and production team.
This role focuses on the mechanical and electrical testing of precision electromechanical products, ensuring they meet strict quality and performance standards before release to customers.
The Role
As a Test Technician, you will be responsible for inspecting, measuring and testing components, sub-assemblies and finished products throughout the manufacturing process. You will play a key role in ensuring product reliability by carrying out both mechanical and electrical testing using a variety of precision measurement tools and test equipment.
The role is primarily based at the company’s High Wycombe facility, with occasional support required for customer or supplier-related activities if needed.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out mechanical and electrical inspection and testing of components, sub-assemblies and finished products
Perform electrical testing including insulation, electrical noise and voltage drop measurements
Identify visual defects such as nicks, burrs, pits and scratches during inspection activities
Follow defined inspection standards and ensure accurate documentation of results
Produce test and inspection reports for internal teams and customers
Support investigations into product issues, customer returns or quarantined parts
Assist in identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions
Maintain records and support departmental KPIs related to testing and quality performance
Follow company health, safety and environmental policies
Support risk assessments within testing and manufacturing processes
Maintain high standards of organisation and housekeeping in line with 5S principles What We’re Looking For
Experience in mechanical and electrical testing within a manufacturing or engineering environment
Strong understanding of metrology and precision measurement techniques
Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and CAD documentation
Experience using precision measurement tools and electrical test equipment
Good computer literacy, particularly Microsoft Excel and Word
Strong communication, organisation and time management skills
Ability to prioritise work effectively to meet production requirements Desirable Experience
Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality management systems
Experience with problem-solving methodologies such as A3 or 8D
Understanding of Lean manufacturing principles such as 5S or visual management Why Apply?
