We’re looking for people who are flexible, intuitive, and comfortable managing high volumes, speed, and complexity.
A number of exciting roles have arisen within the Synergy Programme, a cross-departmental initiative formed in response to Government Business Service’s request for departments to collaborate in 'clusters' to drive efficiencies, enhance buying power, and improve shared services for our end users—our people.
The Synergy Programme is the largest of five departmental clusters, including the Ministry of Justice, Department for Work and Pensions, Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, and the Home Office. The Department of Work and Pensions hosts the programme. Your work will influence procurement arrangements for the next 15 years, affecting over 50% of all Civil Servants—approximately 230,000 people across four departments and arm’s length bodies.
The success of this programme is vital as Civil Servants depend on shared services for essential tools in human resources, finance, payroll, and procurement. It impacts every aspect of our work, from onboarding new staff, expense claims, purchasing goods and services like laptops and canteen supplies, to pension processing upon retirement.
We are especially interested in applications from individuals passionate about our core goal: delivering a transformative, once-in-a-generation service for Civil Servants within the Synergy Cluster.
This role offers an exciting opportunity for an SEO to leverage HR expertise and excellent organisational and interpersonal skills in a dynamic environment spanning Change and HR disciplines. You will advocate for the Synergy programme, support its objectives, and build strong working relationships with HR Product Managers, Process Owners, Delivery Partners, and SME communities across the four departments. Flexibility to handle diverse tasks and adapt quickly is essential for success in this role.
Key responsibilities include:
* Supporting the delivery of the Synergy HR Functional work plan by leading specific activities, tracking actions, documenting decisions, and sharing information within the team and wider HR groups.
* Gathering and quality-assuring data, insights, and evidence from SMEs across departments to inform the programme’s Common Operating Model and align with Government People Group principles.
* Working collaboratively with proven organisational skills, resilience, and adaptability to work at pace.
* Applying HR process and policy knowledge to support impact analysis and achieve convergence across large, complex government departments.
* Leading the collection and delivery of functional/user requirements throughout the programme lifecycle.
* Communicating clearly, with integrity and enthusiasm. Building and maintaining effective stakeholder relationships, confidently challenging, influencing, and negotiating positive outcomes.
* Facilitating cross-cluster working groups, producing key information for decision-making, tracking decisions, and deputising for Product Managers when needed.
