Job Description
EduTalent Group are supporting a FE Setting in Bromley seeking a Learning Support Assistant to provide essential support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN). Working closely with the Learning Support Coordinator, Learning Inclusion Manager, and curriculum staff, the role focuses on enabling students to access learning, develop independence, and achieve their educational outcomes.
Responsibilities
• Assist in the educational and social development of learners under the direction of support managers and curriculum staff
• Support the development of self-advocacy and independent learning skills
• Contribute to the assessment of students’ learning and personal progression
• Assist in creating and updating person-centred support plans
• Provide support for students’ personal care, safety and wellbeing
• Identify barriers to learning and develop intervention strategies
• Understand and respond to the individual needs and objectives of learners
• Ensure students can access and fully utilise College services and activities
• Support the use of specialist equipment, assistive technology and facilities
• Provide supervision and support for students with additional physical or medical needs
• Report mobility and safety issues in line with College Health and Safety guidelines
• Liaise with parents, key workers, and external agencies where required
• Attend meetings and contribute to the wider support team as needed
Requirements
• Experience supporting students with SEN, preferably in a further education or secondary setting
• Knowledge of strategies to support learning, independence and personal development
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
• Patient, flexible and proactive approach to supporting learners
• Awareness of safeguarding, health and safety, and confidentiality requirements
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to apply
