We are a well-established assembly manufacturing business based in Sheffield, specialising in the production of precision-engineered products for a global customer base. As our business continues to expand, we're looking for an experienced and proactive Buyer to join our procurement team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with international sourcing experience to play a key role in ensuring a smooth, cost-effective, and timely supply of components from suppliers across Europe, the Far East, and the USA. Key Responsibilities: Source, negotiate, and manage procurement of mechanical and electronic components from overseas suppliers. Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure quality, reliability, and cost efficiency. Monitor supplier performance and lead-time adherence. Work closely with engineering, planning, and production teams to understand and forecast part requirements. Coordinate import logistics, including customs documentation and international shipping. Analyse market trends, currency fluctuations, and geopolitical risks affecting supply. Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and internal quality standards. Ideal Candidate Profile: Proven experience in a buyer or procurement role, ideally within manufacturing or engineering. Strong knowledge of international sourcing, especially from Europe, Asia (Far East), and North America. Excellent negotiation, communication, and supplier management skills. Understanding of Incoterms, customs procedures, and import documentation. Highly organised, commercially aware, and confident with data and ERP/MRP systems. Able to work independently and collaboratively across departments. CIPS qualification (or working towards) is an advantage. What We Offer: A dynamic and supportive work environment.
