Role: Assistant Investigator
Location: Birmingham

As an Assistant Investigator, you will be responsible for managing an allocated caseload of both reactive and proactive non-complex alerts/ investigations. To assist in undertaking fraud risk assessments into directed areas/ processes both for the client and the supply chain. To present fraud awareness sessions within the client and the wider supply chain.
About the role:
* Working a caseload of alerts from various proactive fraud identification systems with a view to determining the causation of the alert, minimising further loss and seeking recovery where possible.
* Updating and entering all investigative actions and recommendations to third party systems / case management tracker
* Managing in a timely manner an allocated caseload (appropriate to experience) of investigations relating to alleged unethical behaviour
* Supporting the Counter Fraud and Business Ethics Team, as and when directed, on complex cases under investigation, undertaking fraud risk assessments and creating and delivering fraud risk awareness sessions both within the client and the wider supply chain.
* Collaborating with other investigatory, compliance, audit and law enforcement bodies, both internally and externally.
* Collating and producing reports highlighting and demonstrating the CBFE team’s performance that will be used both internally and externally.
* Actively promoting and embedding Equality Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) in all your work, and supporting and complying with all organisational initiatives, policies and procedures on EDI.
Skills
* Ability to communicate effectively at different levels and provide concise and professional advice to the required audience.
* Ability to conduct compliance/ ethics or fraud investigations.
* Ability to effectively interpret and evaluate information gathered during investigations, drawing conclusions in relation to offences/ breaches and to provide recommendations.
* Ability to work with stakeholders at all levels to manage conflicts and conduct difficult discussions/ interviews and close matters in a timely manner.
* Analytical skills and ability to undertake multiple investigations contemporaneously which are running at different speeds and in an ever-changing environment.
* Ability to produce and present information to a variety of stakeholders, whilst enabling succinct investigation reports to be produced with minimal amendment.
Knowledge
* Professional accreditation in investigations discipline e.g.
* Counter Fraud Investigator Apprenticeship (level 4)
* Advanced Professional Certificate in Investigative Practice (APCIP)
* Professionalism in Security Management (PINS)
Experience
* Post qualification experience of working in an investigation environment.
* Experience conducting interviews of both suspect and witness, as well as taking statements.
* Experience of investigation report writing resulting from internal HR investigations / criminal investigations, and the identification of lessons learned and recommendations.
