Part-time Personal Assistant
About the role
A 17-year-old person living in the Beddau area with family and pets. They enjoy colouring, playing piano, cooking, ice skating, and participate in performing arts. They use they/them pronouns and have non-epileptic seizures, anxiety, and autism. They tire easily and may use a wheelchair on longer days out.
Purpose of job
To support access to the community, participate in social activities, develop social skills, and increase independence.
Hours of work
6 hours per week during term time and 12 hours during school holidays. Term time: 4 hours on Monday and 2 hours on Wednesday. Holidays: more flexible. Applicants may apply for part hours if they cannot commit to both days.
Rates of pay
£13.50 per hour and 40p per mile where applicable.
Tasks involved
* Take the person ice skating.
* Support using public transport.
* Go out for a coffee.
* Help cook at home.
* Show how to complete some domestic tasks.
* Potentially learn lines with them.
* Build up to going swimming one day.
* Help develop social skills.
* Potentially attend a club together.
* Ensure safety and monitor signs of tiring during activities.
Type of person required
* Someone with a good sense of humour and is very friendly and kind.
* Not shy or quiet; happy to work in a home with pets (dogs and cats are a bonus).
* Calm in case of seizures and with good awareness/experience working with neurodivergence/autism/mental health.
* Car driver with business class insurance.
About the job
Although part-time, this will be a proper job requiring a National Insurance number. A trial period is expected. Pay is monthly with holiday pay. The post is subject to satisfactory references and a DBS (Police) check, the cost of which is met by the employer (Local Authority). Checks will ensure the right to work in the UK.
