Job summary
A substantive post has arisen for a Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon. The appointee will replace an existing Consultant Oncoplastic Surgeon. The new appointee will be part of the Breast Surgery Team and involved in the whole patient pathway. We are looking for an Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon who is confident in providing a wide range of Oncoplastic procedures and who may bring new skills to compliment the unit. This job will also be suitable for candidates with FRCS plastic surgery with TIG fellowship in oncoplastic breast surgery who wish to practice combination of oncoplastic breast surgery and plastics.

Main duties of the job
We are looking for an Oncoplastic Breast Surgeon who is trained and confident in providing a wide range of oncoplastic breast procedures. The successful applicant will become part of 6 consultant surgeons: 3 Consultant Breast Surgeons and 3 Consultant Oncoplastic Breast Surgeons.
All outpatient clinics (2 week wait breast rapid access clinic, screening result clinics, oncoplastic breast surgery clinic, results clinic), theatre lists and multidisciplinary team meetings have colleagues cover built in and the successful applicant will be expected to be part of a team delivering breast services.
The Breast Unit is based at the Birmingham Treatment Centre which is the main ambulatory care centre for Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust. This is a purpose-built facility with Breast Surgery, Imaging, and Nursing all housed in this building adjacent to each other.
The candidate is not expected to participate in the general surgery on call rota. This annualised job plan is equivalent to a 10 PA post.
