Contract: Full Time, permanent
Starting Salary: Base salary of £X, with the potential to earn up to £Y, with sleep-in shifts

Apple Orchard has five homes in Surrey and West Sussex. Each home is set in a rural location and offers a comfortable homely environment for young males aged - years.
We aim to help young people develop insight into their experiences to move on from their often damaged traumatic past. We support them by providing clear boundaries and achievable goals, including positive reinforcement strategies such as reward charts and free time.
Providing a high level of nurturing to meet all basic needs is central to our work. We focus on building supportive relationships and positive attachments in a warm, friendly atmosphere.
Duties and responsibilities:
* Lead in ensuring the care and welfare of each child in the home, supporting their developmental needs and potential.
* Plan and prepare activities that meet young people's needs and promote their learning and integration.
* Stay informed of legislation, guidelines, policies, and ensure compliance with the Children’s Act, children’s homes regulations, and Ofsted standards.
* Support and lead Residential Support Workers, ensuring policy and risk assessment adherence.
* Observe and record young people's progress, achievements, behavior, and significant events. Maintain up-to-date life books for key workers.
* Collaborate with local authorities to ensure outstanding care.
* Maintain positive relationships with parents/carers to support learning and development.
* Be flexible within the home’s working practices, including domestic tasks like cooking, cleaning, and shopping.
* Work with the Manager and staff team to fulfill the home’s philosophy and raise concerns appropriately.
* Keep clear, legible records of young people's information, distinguishing fact, opinion, and third-party input.
Essential skills:
* Experience working with teenage boys or challenging behavior preferred; willingness to develop skills.
* Hold a driving license and have access to a vehicle due to rural location.
* Hold relevant qualifications or be willing to work towards them, such as Residential Childcare/Families Practitioner Diploma or NVQ Level in Health & Social Care.
* Willing to engage young people in activities and support their journey towards independence and adulthood.
* Flexible working hours, including days, evenings, weekends, and shift work with alternate weekends off.
* Ability to challenge unacceptable behavior, set firm boundaries, and meet individual needs.
* Teamwork skills, effective communication, and active listening.
