We are appointing a permanent Catering Assistant to support the kitchen manager with food preparation at Woolsery Primary School and to serve meals at Parkham Primary School.

You will need to:
1. Be helpful and friendly with a positive attitude;
2. Have a basic knowledge of food preparation, hygiene and allergen processes;
3. Be Health & Safety compliant (Food Safety Certificate at Level 1 or above);
4. Be able to work with and support a team daily;
5. Have use of own car/van with a clean driving licence and appropriate insurance;
6. Willing and able to work flexibly across our sites.
Main purposes of job:
7. To assist with day-to-day catering for the partnership by assisting our chef with food preparation, based at Woolsery Primary School;
8. To transport meals in large insulated boxes from Woolsery Primary School to Parkham Primary School on a daily basis Monday-Friday (use of own transport essential – mileage covered by claim);
9. To serve meals at Parkham Primary School;
10. To ensure health and safety policies are followed and although not essential an up to date food hygiene certificate will be required – this can be arranged by the Partnership if necessary. Training can be provided;
11. To take responsibility for the servery kitchen at Parkham - Sanitizing, cleaning, use of dishwasher, be compliant with food storage and basic record keeping. Maintain kitchen equipment and report faults to the kitchen manger;
12. Although not essential it would be desirable if the successful candidate has the skills and experience to cover for the Kitchen Manager in the main production kitchen when needed – this would likely involve temporary work where the individual would fill in for the kitchen manger ensuring smooth operations and maintaining food safety standards. This would be supported by the Kitchen Manger and training would be given. Any opportunity to cover would be paid at an enhanced rate.
