Relief Youth Support Worker Newry, Belfast & Downpatrick Hours: Days and night shifts available Contract: Casual Recruiter: Total Care Recruitment About the Role Total Care Recruitment are currently recruiting Relief Workers for our client, Northern Irelands leading youth homelessness charity. Our client provides supported housing for young people aged 1621 who are homeless or leaving care. As a Sessional Worker, youll play a key role in providing a safe, nurturing environment and supporting young people to develop the confidence and life skills needed for independent living. Main Responsibilities Provide an accessible point of contact at night and weekends, ensuring the safeguarding and protection of young people. Support young people in their transition to independence, helping them build essential life skills such as budgeting, cooking, and managing a home. Encourage participation in education, training, and community activities. Promote routine, structure, and positive behaviour in a supportive environment. Work as part of a team to ensure consistency of care and effective communication across shifts. Complete and maintain support plans, risk assessments, and daily handovers. Respond appropriately to safeguarding concerns and follow policies and NISCC standards. Essential Criteria 3 months paid or 6 months voluntary experience supporting people in a caring role (as an employee, volunteer, or carer). Understanding of homelessness, mental health, and substance use Registration (or willingness to register) with the Northern Ireland Social Care Council (NISCC). Access NI check required prior to starting. Desirable Full current driving licence and access to a car. Experience working in supported housing or a residential care environment.
