Job Description

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To play a positive role in the Staff Bank management team and provide a supervisory role to casual staff whilst positively contributing to the future of Aspire.

RESPONSIBILITIES

To be responsible for the formal and informal supervision and appraisal of staff.

To facilitate and participate in the training of staff and the induction of new staff bank casual workers.

To attend and participate in meetings, training and supervision as required.

To contribute as a member of the HR team to provide a high quality and effective service.

To oversee and co-ordinate the staff bank process.

To produce and maintain recruitment, HR and Bank staff records.

To set up and maintain various forms of recruitment and Bank documentation as necessary ensuring appropriate version control of key documents.

To communicate clearly and professionally with internal colleagues and outside agencies and organisations as appropriate.

To deputise for the Resourcing Manager in their absence.

To participate in training and development activities as necessary to ensure up to date knowledge, skills and continuous professional development undertake other duties appropriate to the post as required by the Resourcing Manager.

To comply with the requirements of all Aspire policies, procedures and staff instructions, including responsibilities under the Health and Safety Policy and Procedures.

To ensure that they promote and maintain a very high standard of professional recruitment practice adhering to Safer Recruitment guidelines.

To place successful candidates as required.

Undertake specific projects within the HR function as required.

To encourage continuous improvement and innovation within the team.

To review the contribution of their staff on a regular basis and to provide direction on personal development requirements and action in accordance appraisal objectives.

To promote good staff relationships and morale amongst staff reporting to them, through effective feedback, recognition, appraisal and development.

To lead by example to ensure that Aspire demonstrates commitment, through its culture and actions, for all aspects of diversity in the population it serves and the staff who provide the services.

To promote the corporate values and culture of the organisation through the development and implementation of relevant policies and procedures and appropriate personal behaviour.

To participate as required in the selection and appointment of staff reporting to them in accordance with procedures laid down by Aspire.

To work with the Communications and Marketing team to effectively promote Aspire staff bank vacancies to increase application flow.

To take responsibility for their own performance and to identify personal development areas.

Demonstrate their commitment by their regular attendance and the efficient completion of all tasks allocated to them.

To actively respect and take into account all cultural, religious, personal and social needs.

To comply with the requirements of all Aspire’s policies, procedures and staff instructions, including responsibilities under the Health and Safety Policy and Procedures.

To actively promote and support Aspire’s Policies on Equal & Diversity and to work in an anti-oppressive manner.

To undertake any other duties appropriate to the post.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

SKILLS

Ability to communicate orally and in writing sensitive information effectively, accurately and concisely between various stakeholders.

Ability to work with a variety of electronic communications and technology.

Ability to manage challenging situations appropriately.

Ability to supervise staff on a daily basis and undertake both formal and informal supervision and appraisal.

Ability to work with and take into account the needs of individuals from diverse, multi-cultural and ethnic backgrounds.

Ability to make decisions and work flexibly as part of a team.

Ability to work in liaison with senior management, colleagues and other agencies.

Ability to pass information effectively, accurately and concisely.

Ability to produce correspondence/reports using a variety of computer software to create, store and retrieve information e.g. Word, Excel, Outlook and databases.

Ability to work on own initiative and to prioritise and organise own workload.

Ability to work to tight deadlines and manage constant and often conflicting demands.

Ability to deal with sensitive and confidential information and ensure this information is current accessible and secure.

Ability to grow the staffing resources.

KNOWLEDGE

Demonstrate an understanding of the importance of confidentiality.

Demonstrate an understanding of diversity issues within local communities.

Of computerised systems.

Of filing systems.

EXPERIENCE

Of working alone and self-managing workload, but also operate within a team.

Of maintaining records.

Ability to understand and observe the Aspire’s Equality & Diversity Policy.

To carry out all duties having regard to an employee’s responsibility under Aspire’s Health & Safety Policies.
