Pastoral Support Assistant
Location: Secondary School, Oldham
Contract: Full-time, term time only
Start Date: Immediate
We are looking for an enthusiastic Pastoral Support Assistant to join a secondary school team. This role focuses on student wellbeing, attendance, and engagement, making it ideal for someone who enjoys working closely with young people.
You will support students who may need a listening ear, additional encouragement, or help overcoming barriers to learning. The role requires a warm yet professional approach and a strong understanding of the importance of pastoral care.
Requirements:
Experience in a pastoral, mentoring, youth work, or school support role.
Strong empathy, patience, and communication skills.
Ability to build trust with young people.
Confidence in supporting attendance, engagement, and behaviour.
Enhanced DBS and two professional references.
Key responsibilities:
Support student wellbeing and engagement.
Monitor attendance and follow up concerns.
Work with families and external professionals where appropriate.
Support students with behaviour, confidence, and motivation.
