About the role
Be part of this ‘once in a generation’ project that will deliver clean energy to 6 million homes for the next 60 years. Sizewell C will see the creation of a 3.2 Gigawatt nuclear power station on the Suffolk coast to provide reliable load low-carbon electricity.
The Civil Works Alliance is an extended delivery enterprise involving Sizewell C and three international construction companies: Balfour Beatty, Bouygues Travaux Publics and Laing O’Rourke.

What you'll be doing
The Senior Works Manager will lead the delivery of enabling and earthworks activities as part of the Civil Works Alliance at Sizewell C. This role is critical to ensuring the successful execution of bulk earthworks, site preparation, sea defences, drainage, and associated infrastructure works. The manager will oversee site operations, coordinate with contractors, and ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental standards
Who we're looking for
Key Requirements
• Proven experience in managing large-scale civil engineering or infrastructure projects, ideally within
nuclear or major construction programmes.
• Strong background in bulk earthworks, drainage, and enabling works/Bridge construction works
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex logistics and multi-contractor environments.
• Relevant qualifications in civil engineering or construction management.
• CSCS, SMSTS, First Aid, and other relevant site certifications.
• Good understanding and knowledge in Temporary works to support structures etc.
Desirable:
• Experience working within alliance or joint venture delivery models.
• Familiarity with Sizewell C or similar nuclear infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge of marine and coastal defence works.
• Good understanding and knowledge in Commercial/Contract matters
Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience
• Lead and manage the day-to-day site operations for enabling and earthworks packages.
• Coordinate with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure timely and efficient delivery.
• Ensure all works are executed in accordance with project specifications, health & safety regulations,
and environmental standards.
• Monitor progress against programme and report deviations with mitigation strategies.
• Support the planning and sequencing of works, including logistics and access.
• Manage site resources, including plant, labour, and materials.
• Liaise with engineering and design teams to resolve technical issues.
• Champion a culture of safety, quality, and collaboration across the site.
• Provide leadership and mentoring to site supervisors and junior staff.
