Clinical Nurse Specialist

Join our dynamic Respiratory Team, delivering high-quality, age-appropriate care for children and young people (CYP) with respiratory conditions--primarily asthma--across acute, community, and outpatient settings.

Working as part of a supportive multi-disciplinary team, you will assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care pathways, and collaborate with external agencies to ensure seamless care delivery. You will deliver asthma education across the Trust to nurses, AHPs, and medical colleagues, and engage with schools and nurseries to raise awareness and improve outcomes for CYP living with asthma.

About You:

RNC/RN8 qualification (degree or diploma level)

Current NMC registration

Post-registration qualification relevant to respiratory care

Experience providing specialist clinical advice

Strong communication, teaching, and leadership skills

Main duties of the job

Reporting into the Matron, your responsibilities will include:

Deliver specialist respiratory nursing care in multiple settings

Support and supervise colleagues and students

Develop and implement policies and training programmes

Advocate for CYP and their families, ensuring their voices are central to care

Contribute to service development and quality improvement plans

Collect and analyse clinical data to support decision-making and research

Person Specification


Qualifications and Training

* RN Child (RSCN) or equivalent
* 998 or equivalent teaching certificate
* Have or working towards completion of non- medical prescribing
* Have or working towards completion of Clinical Skills Assessment MSc module
* Degree in relevant subject


Experience

* Completed Band 5 co-ordinator competencies (or equivalent) Or experience of working at Band 6 level
* Experience of working with the Respiratory patient group
* Teaching and mentorship qualification
* Audit / Research experience
* Project or caseload management
