Overview
We have an exciting opportunity at YTL Construction UK to lead MEP design and engineering on one of the UK\'s largest private regeneration projects. You will shape the mechanical, electrical, and public health (MEP) design from RIBA Stage 0 to 4, ensure technical standards, and align with project goals and client expectations on the Brabazon project in Bristol.
Responsibilities
* Lead, manage, and review the engineering, technical design, and coordination of MEP systems from RIBA Stage 0 to Stage 4 (and assist up to Stage 5 for technical inquiries).
* Establish and lead the in-house MEP Engineering & Design team (mechanical, electrical, public health and BIM).
* Develop internal procedures and standards aligned to industry best practices (CIBSE, BSRIA, and UK Building Regulations).
* Act as a strategic MEP advisor to senior leadership on performance, design feasibility, energy strategy, and compliance.
* Review and validate external MEP consultant designs for technical accuracy and regulatory compliance, ensuring integration with architectural and structural frameworks.
* Serve as the principal reviewer of all MEP engineering design outputs from external consultants (calculations, specifications, models, drawings, schedules).
* Collaborate on procurement strategies for MEP packages aligned with project scope, complexity, and market conditions.
* Act as the main point of contact for all MEP matters and foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
What you\'ll need
* Experience and ability to deliver high-value MEP design and technical leadership on MEP packages exceeding £5 million on projects valued above £20 million.
* Strong working knowledge of MEP system design and installation (HVAC, plumbing, fire protection, power distribution, lighting, ICT, life safety).
* Solid grasp of UK regulations, codes, and guidance (CIBSE, British Standards, IET Wiring Regulations BS7671, Part L/F/B/G, TM52/TM59).
* Proficiency in BIM with knowledge of Revit, AutoCAD, and Navisworks.
* Leadership and communication skills; detail-oriented, quality-driven, with a commitment to high technical standards and compliance.
* Degree qualified in mechanical or electrical engineering with extensive experience in MEP design and technical management; Chartered status with a recognised UK institution (CIBSE or IMechE) is preferred.
* CSCS management card and SMSTS (or equivalent) health & safety qualification.
