As a senior therapy assistant, you will be providing holistic rehabilitation to service users under the care of the Community Stroke Service. You will contribute to maintaining governance standards, operational management, and modernisation of therapy services within Sheffield Teaching Hospitals. Working as part of a specialist inter-disciplinary team, you will provide patient-centred care and management to patients referred for ICSS care.
You will manage an independent clinical caseload, plan and prioritise your work, and report patient progress and outcomes to qualified therapy staff in line with local protocols and national targets. Ensuring a clean and safe working environment in therapy facilities to comply with Health and Safety at Work Standards and Trust Infection Control Guidelines is essential. You will actively consider all aspects of risk management during clinical and non-clinical duties, report accidents and incidents via online Datix, and lead on area stock control, including replenishment in line with ICSS procedures. You will also assist with recruitment and selection as an interview panel member.
Effective communication is vital; you will convey information clearly and accurately in written and digital notes, and communicate complex, sensitive, and contentious information effectively with patients, carers, staff, and other agencies. Maintaining up-to-date knowledge and competency in stroke therapy protocols and practices is required.
