An opportunity has arisen to join our Dermatology Department as a Band 5 Staff Nurse. The successful candidate will be required to work within our Dermatology Outpatients Service and will be fully supported to develop their knowledge and expertise.
The Dermatology Department is a dynamic and progressive service with a dedicated and friendly nursing team, fully supported by our team of doctors. We provide a range of day care treatments, including phototherapy, photodynamic therapy, and topical treatments to patients with acute and chronic skin diseases (such as skin cancer and wounds). The service currently operates Monday to Friday and the post holder will be expected work across all 3 sites.
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to be supported to develop expertise within this specialty. The candidates need to demonstrate a keen interest in developing a career within dermatology and have a proven track record of personal and professional development.
Main duties of the job
You will support all our dermatology services cross site as required and we encourage rotational working through all our service departments from outpatients to our dedicated dermatology treatment room, to provide you with development opportunities and experience.
Support our patient's surgical journey on day case with preparation for surgery and discharges from the department with a holistic approach to care; ensuring patients receive safe, personal and effective care throughout their stay and act as the patients' advocate.
Provide nursing support to our specialist services within dermatology outpatient's clinics, including the treatment room and phototherapy department. Conducting various dermatology assessments and diagnostic tests.
You need to be able to demonstrate good, effective communication skills, be a caring and hardworking professional individual and be committed to working in a busy and often challenging environment and assist the team in delivering excellent patient care.
Good time management skills are essential, as is the ability to prioritise your workload.
You will participate in service improvements and attend relevant service meetings.
