We are seeking to appoint a full time, highly motivated, suitably experienced person to become a Specialist Outreach Worker for children and young people with Speech, Language and Communication Needs within the Education and Youth Portfolio for Flintshire County Council.
The main purpose of the job is to operate as an integral part of the Communication, Language and Speech Service (C.L.A.S.S) Supporting access to the curriculum and the development of skills for children and young people with a Speech, Language and Communication Need (SLCN). As well as co-ordinating and delivering training to school staff linked to Speech, language and communication needs S.L.C.N.
The successful candidate will ideally have excellent IT skills and experience of supporting pupils with a SLCN. The post holder will be responsible for adapting work, and promoting independence skills of children with a SLCN under the direction of the C.L.A.S.S Service manager.
Collaborative working is an essential part of this role and the successful candidate will be expected to develop close working relationships with pupils, parents, schools, the C.L.A.S.S Team and Speech and Language Therapists. As this post will result in you having substantial contact with children and/or vulnerable adults, the successful applicant will be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Services check. Welsh speaking and writing skills are desirable.
