Opportunity in Wakefield Council's Street Scene Services: Bulky Operative
We are offering a position within the Council’s Street Scene Services for a Bulky Operative, working with the Bulky Collection Team from our depot at Newton Bar, Wakefield.
What will be expected from me?
The Postholder should demonstrate the following skills, knowledge, and experience:
* Be an ambassador for the Council when dealing with all stakeholders
* Be self-motivated and capable of motivating others
* Have a good understanding of Health & Safety procedures
* Ability to assess problems and provide practical solutions
* Ability to prioritize conflicting demands
* Display basic numeracy and literacy skills
What might I be doing?
The postholder will:
* Collect bulky items from domestic properties and offload at designated disposal/recycling facilities following site regulations and safe working practices
* Use judgment to determine which items of waste to remove
* Use initiative to handle basic issues on-site
* Liaise with the Team Leader regarding public requests directed to the office
* Report defective receptacles to the Team Leader
Essential requirements:
* Good knowledge of the waste and recycling industry
* Understanding of health and safety procedures
What can I expect?
* Full-time position of 37 hours per week (Tuesday – Friday)
