SEND Case Officer Directorate: Children & Young People Salary: £39,152 – £41,771 per annum (Grade 9) Pro Rata Contract: Part time 18.5 hours Location: Dudley About the Role We are seeking a motivated and skilled Case Officer to join our SEND Team within Children’s Services. You will play a key role in the statutory assessment process for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), ensuring that Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) are completed to a high standard and within statutory timescales. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference to the lives of children, young people, and their families across the borough. Key Responsibilities Manage casework from initial referral through to completion of the statutory assessment process. Prepare, write and amend Education, Health and Care Plans. Liaise with parents, carers, schools, health and social care, and other agencies to ensure effective multi‑agency working. Attend Annual Reviews, Interim Reviews and emergency reviews as required. Prepare reports and documentation for panels and support decision‑making processes. Monitor the use of allocated funding within schools for pupils with EHCPs. Provide advice and guidance to schools and settings on statutory SEND processes. Support service development, including contributing to training and INSET for partner organisations. Promote and uphold safeguarding, equality, diversity and inclusion in all areas of work. Attending formal and informal mediations to resolve cases before they progress to SENDIST tribunal Provide support to Senior Case Officers and tribunal officers in relation to cases subject to the formal appeal processes. About You We are looking for someone who: Has experience in SEND, education, or children’s services. Is organised, confident and able to manage a varied and challenging caseload. Has strong communication, relationship‑building and report‑writing skills. Works well with families and professionals to achieve positive outcomes. Is committed to improving the educational experiences of children and young people with SEND. Additional Information A DBS check is required for this post. You must comply with all Council policies including safeguarding, data protection, and health and safety. Flexi‑time is available in accordance with service needs. Casual car allowance applies.
