An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Stoke NHS Talking Therapy Service, a Primary Care Psychological Therapy Service in Stoke-on-Trent offering innovative and effective treatments for a broad range of mental health problems in primary care, focusing on anxiety disorders and depression. We are looking to recruit a number of trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (PWP). You should have significant paid experience working in a mental health setting and If successful you will be nominated and supported to apply for the post graduate certificate PWP course at Newham University, Birmingham in the 2025/26 cohort commencing in October 2025.If successful, you will be funded to work as trainee PWP within the Stoke NHS Talking Therapies Service employed by Changes Health and Wellbeing Service. You must be in a position to submit an application to the university in good time to participate in their selection process
£26,530 - £29,114 per annum, full time 37.5 hours per week.
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will work within the IAPT service providing high volume low intensity interventions which will be a range of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) based self management interventions to service to clients with mild to moderate anxiety and depression whilst simultaneously meeting the requirements of the post grad certificate training course.
The post holder will work with people with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equal opportunities.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Undertakes patient-centred interviews which identifies areas where the person wishes to see change and or recovery and makes an accurate assessment of risk to self and others.
Ensure the maintenance of standards of practice according to the employer and any regulating bodies, and keep up to date on new recommendations/guidelines set by the department of health (e.g. NHS plan, National Service Framework, National Institute for Clinical Excellence).
Prepare and present clinical information for all patients on their caseload to their clinical supervisors on an agreed and scheduled basis, in order to ensure safe practice and to meet the requirements of the course. This will ensure that clinical governance obligations of the post holder, supervisor and service are met
