Why this job matters
BT Business plays a big part in BT Group's plans. With BT as our lead brand, we are the leading business communications provider in the UK, connecting more than one million businesses and public sector organisations to their colleagues and customers. We support businesses of all sizes – whatever tech needs they may have. We have around 12,000 employees in the UK and internationally – from head office folks through to contact centres, engineers and a large sales team.
This is a transformational moment for BT Business and the team is focused primarily on transformation activities for the next few years. We need to make sure we’re telling a brilliant and compelling story that sets out what needs to change, how we’re changing and proves that we’re making progress, so that we create a community of advocates for Business as well as for BT Group as a whole.
In this role you will bring Business’ transformation to life for employees in a way they can advocate for our B2B operational plan and strategy, our products and services, and manage change brilliantly and in the context of what will make us even better for customers.
What you’ll be doing
As an Engagement and Transformation Manager, you will be responsible for designing and delivering creative internal communications and engagement that bring our transformation agenda to life—crafting compelling stories, producing multimedia content (graphics, short videos and animations using tools like Canva and PowerPoint), and orchestrating our digital channels (Viva Engage, SharePoint intranet and a regular newsletter) to drive participation. You will collaborate with internal comms colleagues and senior managers to plan campaigns around key milestones, turning complex change into clear, engaging narratives while championing frontline voices and continuously improving reach and impact.
You will be responsible for shaping the following:
* Plan and deliver engaging internal communications that bring our transformation to life for colleagues across the business.
* Translate transformation milestones and upcoming launches into clear narratives and integrated campaign plans.
* Create multi‑format content (graphics, videos, short animations, and slide decks) using tools such as Canva and PowerPoint.
* Manage and publish content across digital channels—Viva Engage, the SharePoint intranet, and a regular digital newsletter—ensuring strong cross‑linking and signposting between channels.
* Source and craft authentic colleague stories, with a particular focus on frontline teams, to showcase real experiences and outcomes.
* Partner closely with internal comms colleagues and senior managers to brief, co‑create, and deliver messaging that lands.
* Drive two‑way engagement tactics that increase reach, interaction, and participation, moving beyond one‑way broadcast.
* Work with external partners/agencies when larger‑scale or specialist creative support is required.
* Ensure clarity, consistency, and quality across all content and channels.
Skills and Experiences
As this role balances a 50/50 split of internal communications and engagement management you will be required to have most of the below experiences:
* Significant experience in internal communications and employee engagement, including change/transformation communications.
* Proven ability to create compelling multimedia content (graphics, short video, simple animations, slideware) using tools such as Canva and PowerPoint.
* Strong knowledge of internal digital channels, especially Microsoft Viva Engage and SharePoint intranet; experience planning and publishing newsletters.
* Excellent storytelling and copywriting skills with a journalistic approach to sourcing and shaping frontline people stories.
* Demonstrated capability to plan and run engagement campaigns aligned to transformation milestones (e.g., product launches), with clear channel plans and content calendars.
* Effective stakeholder management skills; comfortable collaborating with internal comms colleagues and partnering with senior managers to co‑create content.
* Outcome-focused mindset with the ability to track engagement and iterate content to drive interaction rather than one‑way broadcast.
* Strong organization and prioritization skills; able to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
* A proactive, collaborative team player who enjoys working with others and building relationships.
* Experience briefing or coordinating with creative agencies for larger-scale production is a plus.
