Job Description
Our client is a successful Electronics Manufacturing company with over 40 years of experience. They are looking to recruit an experienced Business Development Engineer to operate from their sites in Essex, Berkshire, and Cambridgeshire.
As a Business Development Engineer, you will be part of the business development team, working alongside marketing, and responsible for generating leads, creating opportunities that result in requests for quotation (RFQs), and negotiating contracts. You will work as part of the team under the direction of the UK Group Managing Director. The team is tasked with maintaining a pipeline of opportunities to ensure year-on-year growth across the three UK factories.
You will also collaborate closely with the factory Managing Directors and their commercial, technical, and production teams. The role requires a proactive, fast-paced, and tenacious approach to achieve successful outcomes.
Main Responsibilities
1. Assist in generating leads using all available tools and professional networks.
2. Support the team to secure meetings and visits with prospective customers.
3. Follow up on enquiries and opportunities.
4. Help produce proposals, quotations, and contracts as needed.
5. Engage with factories, develop strong working relationships with Engineering, Operations, and Commercial contacts, and facilitate customer visits.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
* Understanding of contract manufacturing demands, including electro-mechanical assembly, PCBA manufacturing, prototyping, test development, and component sourcing.
* Strong communication skills, including presenting and written communication.
* Proficiency in presenting company data to senior stakeholders and potential customers.
* Willingness to collaborate across departments, share customer insights, and develop sales techniques alongside technical knowledge.
Hybrid Working
The formal place of work will be your home address, with suitable office space required. Equipment will be provided. Depending on location, you may be based at one of the factories, with access to office facilities. Regular travel within the UK is expected to meet customers and factory teams, with occasional overseas travel possible. A full UK driving license and valid passport are required.
Remuneration Package
* Salary from £40,000, depending on skills and experience.
* Car or Car Allowance: Fully expensed company car or equivalent allowance.
* Bonus: UK Group Business Development Bonus Scheme.
* Working Hours: 37 hours per week, Mon to Thurs 08:30-17:00, Fri 08:30-13:30.
* Holiday: 25 days plus Bank Holidays.
* Life Cover: Death in service (x3 salary) after probation.
