Maintenance Tutor
to join our dynamic team at the new Category C Prison, HMP Fosse Way. This is your chance to play a vital role in shaping the future of individuals and helping them reintegrate into society. Your Mission
As a Maintenance Tutor, you will be instrumental in developing, administering, and delivering engaging educational programs that align with the core curriculum and awarding body specifications. Your efforts will directly contribute to enhancing employability, reducing reoffending, and preparing prisoners for a successful return to the community. Key Responsibilities
Design and implement educational programs that meet course objectives, continuously improving quality. Create individual lesson plans and utilize high-quality materials to maximize learning opportunities. Oversee the accreditation process for learners enrolled in your courses. Maintain accurate records of attendance, work progression, and achievements. Foster positive relationships with learners to create a supportive learning environment. Deliver engaging lessons of 2 hours and 45 minutes as required. Set targets and provide constructive feedback through Individual Learning Plans (ILPs). Manage resources effectively within budget and encourage learners to value them. Evaluate your own work and encourage learner feedback for continuous improvement. Ensure certification for learners participating in the course. Promote all program activities and maintain accurate promotional materials. Collaborate with colleagues to enhance program delivery and promote education and training. Adhere to all statutory and company requirements, reporting any security concerns promptly. Develop links with other disciplines and maintain information exchange with partners. Support good standards of learner behavior and take appropriate disciplinary action when necessary. Conduct rub down searches of prisoners as required for security purposes. What You’ll Need
Qualifications
Minimum: Level 3 Award in Education and Training (QCF) Level 3 - Subject Specialism Level 3 Training, Assessing and Quality Assurance (TAQA) or willingness to work towards Desirable: Level 4 Award in Education and Training (QCF)/Certificate in Education/PGCE Level 5 - Subject Specialism Experience
Proven experience in a role requiring strong interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated flexibility and ability to work under pressure. Recent teaching experience in your subject area. Experience in a custodial environment is a plus. Skills and Abilities
