At Little Explorers we are dedicated to providing high quality care for children 3 months – 5 years in a warm and friendly environment. We are looking for an enthusiastic, caring and fun person to join our team.
Your role will include the following duties. (In addition to the requirements of a Nursery Practitioner job role and any other agreed responsibilities)
* To be familiar with the SEND Code of Practice
* Overseeing day-to-day operation of nursery's SEND policy
* Coordinating provision for children with SEND
* Ensuring the needs of individual children are being met in all aspects of the setting's planning and practice.
* Ensuring that all the staff have an understanding of the setting's practice in relation to children with additional needs and/or disability and that there is a consistency and continuity in the way it is carried out. Keep and maintain records on children with additional needs and/or disability by:
* Keeping records of children receiving SEN Support and those with EHC Plans
* Ensuring that appropriate Individual Learning and Development Plans are in place.
* Ensuring that the relevant background information about individual children is collected, recorded and updated and that all staff have access to relevant information paying regard to confidentiality issues.
* Where appropriate, making requests for an EHC Plan for individual children and writing reports about individual children's progress to share with other professionals.
* Advising on graduated approaches to SEND Support
* Advising on use of delegated budget/other resources
* Liaising with parents/carers of children with SEND
* Liaises with other professionals and support agencies to get advice and support for the setting regarding individual children's additional needs and/or disability.
* Working with the manager, other staff and parents to produce a written SEND policy and monitor and review the SEND policy.
* Attend relevant training and keep knowledge up to date, ensuring knowledge is passed on to staff as needed.
