Magdalen College School is inviting applications for the Head of History to lead the department and contribute to the wider school community.
Role Description
The school is seeking to appoint a Head of History from 1 September 2026 to lead and inspire in both the curricular and co-curricular work of our busy and thriving History Department and the wider school.
The History Department consists of eight teachers and one Waynflete Academic. The aim of the Department is to infuse pupils with an enthusiasm for the subject, while insisting on academic rigour. Each History teacher at MCS has their own individual expertise and unique teaching style, yet the Department also places great importance on teamwork and collective input to produce the best results.
Responsibilities
* Lead and inspire curricular and co-curricular work in the History Department and contribute to the wider school community.
* Support an eight-teacher History Department and a Waynflete Academic in delivering rigorous, engaging teaching and learning.
* Collaborate with colleagues to maintain high academic standards and foster teamwork.
