Gilmerton Care Home is located in the Moredun area of Edinburgh and provides nursing care for up to 60 residents.
The Clinical Lead Nurse role is a key position within the home, responsible for maintaining clinical standards, supporting the team and working closely with the Deputy Manager to ensure safe, effective and well managed care.
This role requires strong clinical knowledge and the confidence to lead. You will oversee care planning, monitor standards, support audits and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. You will be involved in clinical decision making, reviewing residents’ needs and ensuring care remains appropriate and consistent.
Alongside this, the Clinical Lead Nurse will support and develop the team through guidance, supervision and day to day leadership. This includes mentoring nurses and care staff, supporting training and ensuring a consistent approach across the service.
Working closely with the Deputy Manager, you will contribute to the overall running of the home, supporting decision making, identifying areas for improvement and maintaining a high standard of care delivery.
The role also involves working with families and external professionals, ensuring communication is clear, professional and responsive.
A Registered Nurse qualification (RGN or RMN) with a valid NMC PIN is essential. Strong clinical experience is required, along with confidence in leading a team and making informed decisions.
Experience within a care home or similar environment is beneficial, along with a good understanding of regulatory standards and compliance.
A calm, organised and proactive approach is important, with the ability to support others and maintain standards in a busy environment.
