We provide specialist services in cardiothoracic surgery, cardiology, respiratory medicine including adult cystic fibrosis and diagnostic imaging, both in the hospital and out in the community. We serve a catchment area of 2.8 million people, spanning Merseyside, Cheshire, North Wales and the Isle of Man, and increasingly we receive referrals from outside these areas for highly specialised services such as aortics. Under the supervision of a registered Health professional undertake specified clinical activities. Assist the registered health professional in the implementation of individualised patient care. Assist with the preparation of meals, snacks and drinks, assisting patients with feeding as necessary. Accurately record patient information of any care given, ensuring the entry is countersigned by the registered nurse responsible for the patient at the time. Involve patients and carers/relatives in the delivery of care. Recognise and respond appropriately to urgent and emergency situations. Escort and transfer patients, with low nursing dependency, as delegated by the registered health professional. Assist in maintaining a clean and safe environment, thus preventing the spread of infection by clearing and cleaning vacated bed spaces and preparation for re-use, secure and handle clinical waste and used linen for safe collection and/or disposal, carry out regular mattress checks and record details in line with trust policy. Maintain high standards of hand hygiene Assist other clinical areas within the Trust as the clinical situation and staffing levels require. Attend to the needs of patients/ visitors, particularly those who may be distressed or require assistance and communicate in a manner that is appropriate to them and the situation.
