The Opportunity
As a Senior Estimator, you’ll lead the preparation of competitive and commercially sound tenders across a range of civil engineering works - from asset management frameworks to major rail and non-rail infrastructure schemes.
You’ll be the key figure in shaping bid strategy, pricing methodology, and tender delivery - working closely with planners, engineers, and project managers to ensure every submission stands out for its quality, accuracy, and value.
What You’ll Be Doing
 * Taking ownership of tender reviews, pricing, and estimating processes.
 * Producing detailed quantity take-offs and cost breakdowns from drawings and specifications.
 * Preparing and managing supplier and sub-contractor enquiries, ensuring competitiveness and accuracy.
 * Applying first principles estimating and benchmarking techniques to validate pricing.
 * Leading tender meetings, risk reviews, and bid presentations.
 * Collaborating with the wider bid and delivery teams to align approach, methodology, and resourcing.
 * Supporting post-tender negotiations and providing commercial handover to the project team.
 * Driving continual improvement through post-tender analysis and lessons learned.
What You’ll Bring
 * Proven experience as a Senior Estimator in civil engineering (rail experience highly advantageous).
 * Strong first principles estimating background and understanding of civil construction processes.
 * Excellent commercial awareness and analytical skills.
 * Proficiency in estimating software, along with Excel and Word.
 * Confident communicator able to lead discussions internally and externally.
 * A proactive mindset and the ability to work to tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
