We are seeking an enthusiastic Gastroenterologist to co‑lead our Upper GI Cancer service as part of an expansion of the department. The role involves providing high quality gastroenterology care, supporting the upper GI cancer service, participating in the bleeding rota, and contributing to service development within the Trust.
Responsibilities
* Co‑lead and develop the Upper GI Cancer service, including vetting suspected cancer referrals and reviewing patients in clinics, face‑to‑face, telephone and virtual.
* Participate in the bowel bleed rota, providing out‑of‑hours gastroenterology cover for Harefield Hospital and the Hillingdon site on a 1‑week in 7‑8 basis.
* Run an inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology service as part of a team, providing an advisory service to colleagues.
* Participate in training and professional development of medical and professional staff, including postgraduate, undergraduate and GP education.
* Continue professional development, CPD and revalidation, and assist the department in achieving JAG accreditation.
* Ensure compliance with national waiting time targets and support service quality improvement, including audits.
* Contribute to medical advisory work, involving participation in committees such as Clinical Governance, Safeguarding Adults, Resuscitation and Medicines Management.
* Collaborate with the Lead Clinician and the Senior Nurse Management Team to develop and implement departmental policies.
* Assist in recruitment and appointment of junior medical staff and supervise junior duties, ensuring effective use of Trust Digital systems.
Qualifications
* Full GMC registration.
* CCT in Gastroenterology and General Internal Medicine, or within six months of CCT.
* Experience working in the NHS.
