About the company
We are a well-established steel frame building company specialising from design, fabrication and erecting. We are currently expanding into other forms of fabrication projects that include Mezzanines, General Building Steels, Balustrades, Staircases, Handrails and secondary steelwork. The design has always been externally provided but due to the growth of the company we are looking to invest in the right candidate to create an in-house design department working alongside external when required.
Job Overview
An excellent opportunity to be the principal designer for our steel fabrication company.
Responsibilities and Duties
* Producing GAs and fabrication drawings using CAD and Tekla software systems.
* Producing a consistent design quality and compliant with UKCA accreditations.
* Quantify the materials required for each project and work with purchasing team for purchase orders.
* To communicate and assist when required with the fabrication team regarding design and or fabrication process.
* To communicate and assist when required with the erecting team regarding design and or erecting process.
* Explore new opportunities for the business to grow in steel products.
* Look to design products to aid efficiencies across all sectors of the business.
* Produce drawings to assist the installation of the final product.
* General design office administration.
Requirements
* Experience as an Advanced Steel / Tekla Draughtsman in structural and architectural steelwork essential.
* Experience in developing GA's and details for steelwork and metal work from Architect/Engineers drawings and site measurements, and subsequent fabrication drawings.
* To work on your own initiative, and liaise with all members within the business.
* Good communication and organisational skills
* Computer literate and conversant with Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word
* While not a requirement for the role, a time served Fabricator / Welder with management experience would be ideal.
