Site / Section Engineer
Location: Plymouth
Hours: 45 hours per week (07:30 – 17:00)
Reporting to: Sub Agent / Agent
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Site / Section Engineer to join a major infrastructure redevelopment project within a live MOD environment in Plymouth.
This role will support the delivery of technically compliant works to design specification, ensuring construction is carried out safely, on programme, and to the highest quality standards. The successful candidate will take responsibility for setting out, quality assurance, dimensional control, and providing engineering support to overcome technical challenges on site.
Due to the sensitive nature of the site, BPSS security clearance is required (process can take up to 8 weeks).

Candidates must:
Hold a passport from a NATO or MISWG member country
Have resided in the UK for the past 5 years
Key Responsibilities
Preparation and management of as-built drawings
Establish and maintain systems to record completed works in line with the Project Quality Plan
Provide and maintain accurate setting out and dimensional control
Ensure works are constructed within allowable tolerances
Regularly check setting out points, benchmarks, and calibration certificates for instruments
Use Leica survey equipment (GPS, Total Station, optical & digital levels)
Record and test workmanship and materials (e.g., drainage, concrete, piling, brickwork)
Assist in (or manage) quality inspections, environmental inspections, and safety checks
Support the review of progress against time, quality, dimensions, and quantities
Provide engineering support to resolve technical queries
Develop and maintain quality check sheets and ITPs (where applicable)
Maintain drawing registers and record site instructions
Complete daily diaries and maintain project trackers
Support procurement of site materials and equipment
Ensure workforce understand and interpret setting out information correctly
Prepare sketches and ensure clear communication across site teams
Support implementation of Safety, Health & Environmental Management Systems
Support RAMS preparation and quality management processes
What We’re Looking For
Essential
Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering (BSc, BEng, MEng, etc.) or Higher Apprenticeship
Experience in reinforced concrete structures using system formwork
Experience in groundworks, earthworks and RC construction
Competent in setting out using Leica survey equipment
Experience working within a Quality Management System
CSCS White PQP/AQP Card
SSSTS (or equivalent supervisory qualification)
Strong IT skills
Good understanding of commercial processes
Ability to work within a live operational environment
Flexible to weekend / out-of-hours work (rota basis)
Desirable
Working towards Chartership (ICE, IStructE or equivalent)
Temporary Works Supervisor / Coordinator (TWS/TWC)
First Aid at Work
Experience developing ITPs
Nuclear or highly regulated project experience
Proven team leadership skills
