This is a rewarding opportunity for individuals passionate about supporting children and young people with social, emotional and mental health needs. As a Mental Health Support Worker, you will play an important role in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning, improve emotional wellbeing and succeed both inside and outside the classroom. Key Responsibilities Provide one-to-one and small group support for pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH). Support students with anxiety, trauma, behavioural challenges, emotional regulation and wellbeing needs. Build positive, trusting relationships that encourage engagement and resilience. Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SEN teams and pastoral leads to implement support strategies. Assist with behaviour support plans and targeted interventions. Help create a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment. Support pupils in developing confidence, coping strategies and positive social skills. Monitor progress and provide feedback to school staff where appropriate. The Ideal Candidate Will Have Experience supporting children, young people or vulnerable individuals in education, care, youth work or mental health settings. A calm, patient and empathetic approach. Strong communication and relationship-building skills. A genuine passion for supporting young people's wellbeing and development. Understanding of SEMH needs, safeguarding and trauma-informed practice is desirable. Backgrounds in psychology, counselling, youth work, social care, support work or education are highly valued.
