Job Description
We are seeking a Field Application Engineer to join the Delta DCS UK team, responsible for preparing customized UPS and Data Center solutions. The role involves technical and commercial cooperation with sales, working closely with clients and partners to understand requirements and provide optimal solutions. A strong understanding of complex technical aspects in data center solutions and electrical engineering is essential. The role is customer-facing and critical for developing business in the UPS and data center markets.
* Responsible for electrical discipline design and understanding other disciplines in data center solutions (UPS, HVAC, structural, IT infrastructure, security systems, etc.) for optimal tender responses.
* Collaborate with sales to prepare quotations, solution presentations, and development.
* Coordinate with other Delta departments (Data center solution team, Product line managers, Procurement, and Service) to define technical solutions.
* Possess strong knowledge of UPS systems and ability to define solutions based on project/tender requirements.
* Size Li-ion and VRLA batteries and select optimal batteries based on requirements.
* Design LV Switchboards, develop single line diagrams, and manage cost arrangements.
* Arrange power busways design and costing, understanding busway products.
* Coordinate with local partners for additional services.
* Develop design documentation such as power schematics, power calculations, floor plans, and battery calculations.
* Prepare Bill of Materials and services for proposals.
* Communicate with customers to design the best possible solutions.
Qualifications
* University degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or industrial automation.
* 5-10 years of experience in electrical applications.
* 3-5 years of experience in data center design or similar large projects.
* Experience in electrical design and documentation.
* Experience with critical electrical equipment: UPS, batteries, busways, switchboards.
* Strong communication skills, both written and oral, across engineering and manufacturing teams.
* Excellent English language skills.
* Solution-oriented thinking.
* Customer interaction skills to translate concepts into solutions.
* Willingness to travel regionally within UK and Ireland, and participate in training at the Delta Customer Experience Centre in Soest, Germany.
