Lancashire SENDIAS provides free, confidential, and impartial information, advice, and support to:
1. Parents and carers of children with SEND
2. Children and young people with SEND, up to age 25 (who can access the service independently)
The service supports families by:
3. Helping them understand their rights, roles and responsibilities under SEND law
4. Providing guidance on health and social care processes, regulations and available support
5. Assisting with mediation, appeals, and tribunal representation
6. Supporting with school exclusions and liaising with nurseries, schools, colleges and professionals
7. Offering one-to-one support via phone, email or meetings
8. Delivering free courses and workshops for parents
Lancashire SENDIAS plays a key role in ensuring families are informed, empowered, and supported to make decisions that affect their children’s education, health and wellbeing.
In this rewarding role as an IAS Officer, you will:
9. Provide impartial advice to families navigating education, health and care systems
10. Work directly with children and young people to ensure their voices are heard
11. Deliver training to parents, carers, and professionals
12. Support families through complex processes like tribunals and mediation
13. Champion inclusive practice and challenge where needed
If you're a confident communicator with a passion for advocacy and a strong understanding of SEND, we’d love to hear from you.
Essential qualifications:
14. Minimum of 2 A-levels (or equivalent)
15. Commitment to completing IPSEA Level 3 legal training within 12 months
16. Strong knowledge of SEND legislation and excellent communication skills
