Whelans Pubs are seeking a passionate and reliable Chef to join our kitchen team. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing high-quality food that reflects Whelans commitment to fresh ingredients, consistency, and great pub dining. This role requires strong teamwork, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare and cook menu items to Whelans standards of quality, presentation, and consistency
Ensure all food is prepared in accordance with food safety, HACCP, and hygiene regulations
Assist with menu development, daily specials, and seasonal dishes
Maintain a clean, organised, and safe kitchen environment
Monitor food stock levels and minimise waste
Work closely with the kitchen and front-of-house teams to ensure smooth service
Follow all company policies and procedures
Assist with training junior kitchen staff where required
Requirements & Skills
Previous experience as a Chef or Cook in a busy kitchen environment (pub or casual dining experience an advantage)
Knowledge of Irish and international pub-style cuisine
Strong understanding of food safety and hygiene standards
Ability to work under pressure and manage time effectively
Team-oriented with good communication skills
Flexible to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays
Desirable Qualifications
Professional cookery qualification (or equivalent experience)
HACCP or food safety certification
