The Post
The post is to work on the Island of Shapinsay, with a population of approximately 350. The successful applicant will evidence up-to-date clinical knowledge and skills and have an interest in remote and rural healthcare, working autonomously with support from GP visits by Heilendi Practice and peer support from the Isles Network of Care. The Advanced Nurse Practitioner will be the lead Practitioner in providing emergency care on the island.
The Isles Network of Care provides weekly videoconferencing for clinical and administrative discussions, case reviews, and shared learning. Smaller islands are served by Advanced Nurse Practitioners with visiting GPs, enabling personalised and continuous primary care as part of a supportive team.
The Candidate
The successful candidate should be flexible, resourceful and confident working without a hospital or GP on site. Responsibilities include assessing, planning, implementing and reviewing health care needs of patients and families, as well as monitoring and audit, treatment room and community nursing activities. Location: Shapinsay
Working pattern: Full time, 37 hours per week
Contract: Fixed term for 12 months while a service review takes place
It is a condition of employment that you live and remain a resident within the UK for the post in which you will be employed with NHS Orkney.
Benefits And Salary
The salary for this post is Band 7 £50,861 – £59,159 per year. If residing on Orkney, you’ll also receive a Distant Islands Allowance of £1,587 pro rata per year, adding value to your rewarding career with us.
